How it works

  1. 1

    Upload your Excel or CSV

  2. 2

Write one email with {{Name}} and other columns

  3. 3

Send it from your own mailbox

Works with Gmail, Microsoft 365 and any mailbox on your own domain.

Why not just use BCC?

A BCC blast looks like a newsletter: the To line is empty and the email isn't addressed to anyone. Fewer people reply, and mailbox providers are quicker to file it as bulk mail. A mail merge sends a separate email to each person, with their own name in the greeting and their own address in the To line.

Why not Word's mail merge?

Word's mail merge needs Word and Outlook on the same computer, a recipient list wired up step by step, and it sends everything at once. Here you drop the Excel into the browser, see exactly what each person will get, and the emails go out from your mailbox spread over the day, with a reminder to whoever hasn't replied.

What you can put into the email

Every column of your file becomes a field: {{Name}}, {{Company}}, {{City}}, an invoice number, a meeting date. A field can have a fallback for empty cells, like {{Name|there}}, so nobody gets "Hello ,".

Questions

Is it free?

Yes, up to 50 emails a day and 500 recipients in one mail merge. On the free plan each email ends with a small "Sent with DataSend" line. Paid plans have no daily cap beyond your mailbox's own limit and no line.

Will my emails end up in spam?

They go out from your own mailbox, one by one, spread over the day, each addressed to one person, so they look like the emails you write by hand. Addresses that don't exist are found and skipped before sending, so your mailbox doesn't collect bounces. Each email also carries the one-click unsubscribe header Gmail and Outlook expect.

What file can I use?

Excel (.xlsx, .xls), OpenDocument (.ods) or CSV. The first row holds the column names; one column needs the email addresses. Every other column becomes a field you can put into the text. The file is read in your browser and nothing is uploaded until you send.

Can recipients see each other?

No. Every person gets a separate email with only their own address in it, unlike a BCC blast.
